Studio (and life) Update
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Thank you for receiving this email. I hope this finds you happy, healthy and peaceful! What's new? So, the past 4 months have been a whirlwind! The rug was pulled out from under me in October, when, three weeks after my dad died, I was rejected from donating blood at my high school due to low hemoglobin. Shortly afterward, I was diagnosed with high-risk MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome), an aggressive blood cancer. I was put on chemotherapy immediately and have received five blood transfusions already. Now, I will need a bone marrow transplant in order to live. Bummer, I know. My sister is running an in-person swab drive at Clearview Regional High School (625 Breakneck Road, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062), TODAY, Sunday, February 2nd from 10 AM-2 PM. Channel 6 News is there covering the event! I will be Facetiming from home. You can swab your cheek to get on the bone marrow donor registry, then pick up some hoagies for the Super Bowl. Or, you can get your free swab kit here. Thanks! On the bright side, in between chemo treatments, being home with a compromised immune system has given me more time to focus on my health, to spend time with my daughter (we've been playing a lot of Barbies), and to work on my art and my website. Oh, yeah, and I cut most of my hair off. I've been working on finishing up the Endometrial Hyperplasia series and preparing panels to bring with me into the hospital to paint. My awesome friend, Ray, is making me custom wooden boxes for an upcoming series on my blood cells, as I progress through this disease to a cure. How are you? I'd love to hear from you.
