About Kristin

Kristin Osgood Lamelas is a Philadelphia born artist, currently living in New Jersey. She donated a kidney to her father in 2011. Since then, her mixed-media paintings reference aerial views of specific landscapes and images of cells from her own body. In her most recent work, she is exploring the issue of how environmental toxins and climate change affect her body and the earth.

Lamelas holds an MFA and a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design and an Art Education certification from Rowan University. She has traveled extensively and has studied classical painting at the Florence Academy of Art, Laguna College of Art, Studio Incamminati, Pennsylvania Academy of Art and SACI.

Lamelas worked as a Graphic Design and Photography teacher in New Jersey for the past 18 years and was President of the Women's Caucus for Art for three years. She revived the chapter and curated and hosted numerous exhibitions including "Old Enough to Know Better" which was juried by Eileen Neff and Diane Burko. Lamelas is a member of CAA, InLiquid, DVAA, and CFEVA.

Lamelas started an Online Critique Group for emerging professional artists. Please reach out to her here if you are interested in joining the group.

Statement

My work is based on my body. Using a microscope, I photograph images of cells from my body and transform those cellular forms into landscapes. My intention is to visually describe the relationship between what we consume and how this consumption affects both our bodies and the earth.
